Ep.47 | In this episode, I had a conversation with Shivang from Young Soy based in Hong Kong. Our discussion covered his journey in art, which began during the Covid-19 pandemic, the current state of art critique in Hong Kong, and the unique requirement of performing a stand-up comedy routine to join the Young Soy team.
Shivang Jhunjhnuwala grew up in Hong Kong and worked in video production after completing his university studies. Alongside his job, he dabbled in stand-up comedy before quitting in December 2019 with plans to travel the world on an "eat, pray, love" journey. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he was unable to leave Hong Kong and found himself without a job. It was then that he co-founded the Young Soy Gallery with his friend Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon. Since its inception, Jhunjhnuwala has collaborated with various innovative artists while also providing video production services to select clients. In 2023, he and Glavatsky-Yeadon founded Vain Projects, which focuses on established artists. Outside of work, Jhunjhnuwala enjoys disco dancing and indulging in ice cream.
